BOOM! Team Obama Fights Back

More of this please,
With HRC's campaign falling apart, with their lame kitchen sink strategy failing the Obama Camp has gone on the offensive. Their starting to smell blood and are getting ready to take her out.

As many of you know Penn has been removed as chief strategist however he is still on the campaign, when asked why Howard Wolfson responded with the following.

"I appreciate the question, but I'm not going to answer it," and added "The difference would be between the editor-in-chief of your newspaper and somebody who plays an important role in your newspaper but isn't in charge," he said, adding that it was the difference "between somebody who is playing the key role and somebody who is playing an important role."

The Obama camp called Bull Shit with this

"Even though Senator Clinton said she'd distance herself from her chief strategist for meeting with the Colombian government, we later found out that he's still very much part of her strategy team. The comparison Senator Clinton tried to make today is laughable, but also typical of a candidate who has said one thing but done another this entire campaign."

BOOM! more of this, its time to end this thing and its nice to see team Obama saddling up for a fight!

Axelrod.. the guy who created the Dean/Osama (1.33 / 3)

adds in IA is supposed to impress me with his moral compass about who should and should not be advising Clinton?  I don't think so.

Quite the little troll aren't we? Personal attacks on Obama supporters, transposing Obama with Osama, what will you think of next?

Re: Axelrod.. the guy who created the Dean/Osama (2.00 / 1)

Actually, the comment was related to the attack ad against Howard Dean that morphed his face into Osama Bin Laden's...

I don't know if Axelrod did that one or not.

Nah, it wasn't Axelrod. (2.00 / 2)

It was a 527 associated with Gephardt and Kerry, I think. Though a guy on Obama's current staff was linked to the ad (may have been Plouffe).

According to Democratic Underground, it was Robert Gibbs...  have not heard of him to be honest, but definitely isn't Axelrod.

Re: Axelrod.. the guy who created the Dean/Osama (2.00 / 1)

I don't think there was any transposing here.  The commenter is suggesting that Axelrod was involved in creating attack ads on Howard Dean that somehow brought up the topic of Osama Bin Laden back in 2004 when Axelrod worked on the John Edwards campaign.  I have no idea if that is true or not, but it doesn't appear to be a trollish attack.

No, it's not true. (2.00 / 2)

The ad in question was done by a 527 with ties to Gephardt and Kerry. I think (though I could be mistaken) that there is someone on Obama's staff who was linked to that ad, but it was not Axelrod.

Re: No, it's not true. (2.00 / 2)

agreed...  I was curious so I am looking through things...  it was a 527 that created the ad.  There are names listed but Axelrod's is not among them.

No, I believe Teresa is referrring to the `04 ad (2.00 / 2)

... that morphed Dean into Osama that was done by a shadowy, Dem-funded 527.

While Axelrod had zero to do with that ad (as the poster claims), there is someone on Obama's staff who was connected to that ad. May have been David Plouffe? Not sure.

Re: Axelrod.. the guy who created the Dean/Osama (2.00 / 2)

I'm hoping that you're referring to a specific ad that had both Howard Dean and Osama bin Laden in it, and not calling Obama "Osama."

Otherwise, you're going to have a tough time explaining how on YOUR keyboard, the "B" and "S" keys are really very close to each other.

but really any HRC supporters want to defend Hillary  and her keeping Penn? anyone want to tell us how this is an example of her great leadership?

Re: BOOM! Team Obama Fights Back (none / 0)

I still believe she (along with many other Democrats) was misled by a corrupt administration. It would be much more difficult to mislead her if she were in charge. And again, if you've read or heard her speech, you'll see that she didn't intend it to be a vote for preemptive war.

However, she should admit it was a mistake and apologize.

Re: BOOM! Team Obama Fights Back (none / 0)

Well, we respectfully agree on your last point.  My assessment of her vote, at the time, was that like many Democrats she was hesitant to oppose a successful 'shock and awe' campaign that was popular in the electorate.  Thing is it didn't turn out that way.  We ran a nominee in 2004 who voted for the AUMF, why would we do that again?  The distinction between Obama and McCain on this issue is clear, that between Clinton and McCain less so in spite of her positioning and revisionism since.

My major objection to US foreign policy for a long time has been that it has been subsumed to domestic political calculation, while seemingly inevitable this must cease.  We need leaders, not poll-driven micro-trenders.  This is the major reason I was attracted to Obama's candidacy and nothing he has done has diminished my loyalty, I think he gets it and is actively asking us to do likewise.

As for Hillary, parse her statements as you like I watched the whole sad imbroglio with great interest as I was vehemently opposed to the war with good reason at the time and she was my junior senator.  I was profoundly disappointed in her choice then and her posturing on the subject since has done nothing to increase my respect or confidence in her position.  The Kyl/Lieberman vote, for example, demonstrated that she had not learned the lesson of that unfortunate war.

Re: BOOM! Team Obama Fights Back (2.00 / 2)

Sure. I know it seems petty to point out small errors, but I assure you, it's best to make sure one's diaries are (largely) grammatically correct. Those little errors distract people from the arguments you're trying to make, which is unfortunate. It shouldn't matter, but it's difficult for some people to ignore. It's easier to focus on the content of what you're saying when there are few distractions.

Re: Check out this more expansive (none / 0)

This particular line is bullshit. Everyone in the campaign world knows former Senator/Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle is really running the Obama campaign - he brought in all the same consultants who used to work for him.

So fine, it's a well-run campaign. Let's all applaud Daschle for his fine work, and stop pretending it means Obama is a great executive. It doesn't.

I like this diary because it so deftly uses both the terms 'team Obama' and 'bull shit', and all the other words are just filler.

So, some of us read this as 'team Obama, bull shit ... BOOM'.

Thanks so much!

Re: BOOM! Team Obama Fights Back (none / 0)

Folks who actually pay attention to policy and substance have a tendency to have their eyes 'glaze over' and become sleepy when they see words like 'kitchen sink strategy' applied to a woman and words like 'saddlin up for a fight' when applied to a man.

Add to that a link to 'huffpo', something that conjures up not a vision of a red haired Gabor sister but a vision of Barbara Olsen with a Gaboresque accent, and well, yep, the rest was filler.

Huh. (2.00 / 1)

I've seen the term "kitchen sink strategy" applied more often to men than to women, personally, and Clinton herself told Obama that "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

As for "saddling up for a fight," the person I've seen that applied to most frequently recently happens to be Sen.  Clinton, so I'm not sure how great an example of misogyny that is.
