Kennedy Schools Clinton

BOOM!!!

David Nather notes Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama met today on the Senate floor "and the two exchanged one of those half-hug, half arm-clasp greetings."

"A more intriguing development was the series of intense, one-on-one conversations Obama and Clinton had with both of the Michigan senators - Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow - who are anxiously awaiting word on whether the Michigan delegation will be seated at the Democratic national convention in August... Both senators also spent time talking to Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida, whose state's role in the convention is also up in the air."

But the "chilliest conversation of the day" was between Clinton and Sen. Ted Kennedy who recently said an Obama-Clinton wasn't possible because Clinton isn't in tune with the "nobler aspirations" of the American people.

"Kennedy did most of the talking. Clinton mostly stood there, looking stern and a bit hurt."

Looks like the liberal lion is taking HRC to task for the way she has conducted herself. And hopefully she gets the hint realizes she needs to run a respectable campain from her on in.

Not only do you misspell the title but make ridiculous assumptions.

I got that Kennedy was trying to explain himself for the remark, not 'schooling Clinton'. Which do you think is more likely -- that Kennedy is trying to play nice and tamp down his comments, or that he's laying into her? Give me a break.

It's gotta be rough for her to hear that from Teddy; nobody knows as well as he does how much you can damage your own party by trying to force a candidacy when it's obvious that the nomination should go to someone else.

I honestly suspect that Clinton's whole game from March on has been to run for Vice President; as much as I think it would be a terrible idea to take her on, it does suck to be shot down.

Sen. Kennedy has a way of ending women's aspirations and driving them off a bridge. Was uncle Teddy giving Clinton tips on how to take her campaign to the convention? After all, he had the chutzpah to do it with less than half the delegations she's won (and against an incumbent president to boot!).

Was it not the voters of his own state who schooled him?

Clinton campaigned her butt off for him when the folks of MA were ready to run his ass out of Massachusetts.

Well, screw him.  The only thing I hope is Hillary realizes those "men" (and I use the term loosely) on the Hill were never her friend, never her supporters and used her and Bill for their own personal gain.

Now, they are strapping their tired asses on the new pony, Obama.

Ted Kennedy, the shining example of party unity in 1980.  As I recall, he took his fight all the way to the convention floor, claiming if pledged delegates were free to vote their conscience, he would emerge the victor.  A lecture from Ted on party unity is about as ironic as a lecture from Bush on how to fight a war.  Thanks for Reagan, Ted!

is that the institution called the Democratic Party is telling HRC to get back in line. Watching people lay into a committed Democrat, just because he happens to support Obama over Clinton?

Shame.  How many times have supporter of one side assumed the supporters of the other to be lesser people (stupid, racists, sexists...whatever!) simply because they have a different calculus about what they want in a President?

We'll need Teddy come January 09, to fight for good policies that most of us agree upon.  It'll be nice when we remember the things that unite us are far more numerous than those that divide us.
